[iPhone] iPhone Explorer error – missing all original iPod apps?

Error Iphone Explorer
I tried to add a .png file to the Wallpapers section in my jailbroken iPod 4G, using iPhone Explorer.
A few moments later, neither iPhone Explorer nor my ipod were responding… If i touched an original app on my screen (still plugged in) it would bounce back and did nothing. Other apps I had added myself through jailbreak would open though.
I unplugged and did a soft reset, and saw that now only a few downloaded apps were still on my iPod. Everything else from my original iPod -like the apps you CAN’T erase- was gone.
I tried restoring through iTunes, but got a message saying it couldn’t complete the restore because there was an error in the iPod. Also tried a hard reset, but it didn’t change anything.

What do I do???
I thought of downloading the firmware (4.2.1) again, and then re-jailbreaking… but I’m not sure if that would work? Or if there’s something else I can do to fix this problem?

Please! If you can answer this, I’ll really appreciate it.

Ok This Happened to me two. you must get a program called sn0wbreeze. download 4.3.1 firmware and yes 4.3.1 nothing else will work. then follow snowbreese instructions and put your device into dfu mode. (after sn0wbreeze, is a part of program.) then it will build the ipsw. then open itunes and hold shift, windows or options, mac and while holding click restore. then select your firmware. it will be called “sn0wbreeze 4.3.1″ or something and will be located on your desktop. select that and agree to the itunes stuff and then it will restore. When it is done your device will be on 4.3.1 jailbroken and up and running. if you get any errors while restoring get a program called tinyumbrella and click exit recovery or something. And that will be done. Good Luck

Ben.
